Great welder. The new autoset feature will definately save you from many headaches. You cannot go wrong with the millermatic 180.
I just now tried it out the other day on an old motorcycle chassis I saved. Seems to work outstanding. I ran it on low power (30 amps) and ran a couple beads with it plugged into my dryer wall socket.
I believe it’s outstanding for the cost, I’m merely going to be doing hobby stuff (devising bikes, etc).
Great little welder. I have had mine in my shop for a week or so now, and it’s been a champ. I’ve been primarily using it to weld in a roll cage for our ChumpCar series race car. Having lots welded in the past, I’ve used welders ranging from cheap $200 migs to the professional grade Millers, and this one holds up to the best of them. It’s perfect for light fabrication. The arc is fairly forgiving, but when you crank-up the juice the puddle gets a little turbulent. Overall, a fantastic welder for the price. Way better than those tapped welders, which really limit the fine tuning.
