Power MIG 180 models use 230 volt power and 25-180 amps, more than enough power to MIG weld 3/16” in a single pass or up to ½” in multiple passes with self-shielded flux-core wire.

I think my review is slightly biased because when I received the Lincoln Power MIG 140C it was DOA. However after getting a replacement (no problem exchanging, they paid the shipping) I am fairly satisfied with this welder. It doesn’t have quite as much power as I had hoped for. I think maybe I should have gotten a Lincoln Power MIG 180C instead.

I love this machine! I weld usually 1/4″ or thinner for DIY home projects. The 120VAC power requirement allows me to transport this unit outside the home if need be. Everybody has 120VAC, but not 240VAC such as the 180C model. I’m not a professional welder or fabricator. I bought this box for home hobby stuff and “lawn art.” If I need a weld bead for a trailer hitch or on a motorcycle frame, I’m not stupid! I’ll pay a PROFESSIONAL welder who knows what he’s doing and uses a more powerful welder! For small projects at home, the 140C suits me just fine.
Excellent machine! Perfect for the DIY type of person around the house. If you need a professional weld for a critical component (trailer hitch, motorcycle frame, mountain bike etc…) than this machine is NOT for you. Have a professional welder with a more powerful welder safely weld your stuff in that situation. However, if you want a machine that easily handles 1/4″ steel and thinner, this 140C is for you! I’ve made several different home projects in the garage with this unit and I’m really impressed! The 120VAC power requirement is an advantage over the bigger 180C (240VAC) model when it comes to ease of portablility. Everywhere you go, you can find 120VAC, unlike 240VAC.
You won’t be disappointed with this little home unit.
