Arc Welders
Arc welders are the most versatile type of electric welder. They can be as simple as a car battery and an electrode, or as complex as a high-end inverter based arc welder. They all work on the same concept, by shorting outing the flow of electricity, creating a high temperature ball of plasma.
Arc welders can be used to weld almost any type of metal, making them the most universal of all the types of welders.
Arc welding is also know as Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), or manual metal arc (MMA) welding or informally as stick welding.
This process is considered slightly more difficult to learn than MIG or wirefeed welding, and easier to learn than TIG welding.
Arc welders are still the machine of choice for the construction industry, because of their reliability and the high quality welds they produce.
